SAI Junior Kabaddi Team won 41st Junior National Championship.

 


SAI Junior Kabaddi Team won 41st Junior National Championship at Kerala in December - 2014. Shri Dahiya from SAI, Sonepat and Shri Jaiveer Singh from SAI, Gandhinagar are the coaches. Three players from SAI, Gandhinagar and Seven players from SAI, Sonepat.




International Level

 

1).        Kabaddi – Shri Rahul  Chaudhary of STC Gandhinagar represented Indian Team in the 4th Asian Beach Games at Phuket (Thailand) in Nov, 2014.         

            Shri Sandeep Yadav, Wrestler from COE Kandivali has participated in the XIX Asian Games, 2014.

2).        Handball – Ms Ankit Ahlawat, Handball trainees of STC Gandhinagar represented India in the 4th Asian Beach Games at Phuket (Thailand) in Nov, 2014.

3).        WrestlingShri Narsingh Yadav, Wrestler from COE Kandivali has won Bronze medal in the XIX Asian Games, 2014.

 

Performance of the Indian Team/SAI trainees at International Competitions.

a).        Performance of the Indian Team – NCC held at this centre.

1).        Kabaddi (Women) – National Coaching Camps were held at this centre on regular basis and provided them with requisite facilities and logistic support. Kabaddi(Women) have won Gold medal at XIX Asian Games held at Incheon, South Korea in Sept, 2014.

2).        Taekwondo – Senior(Men & Women), Junior (Men & Women) and Cadet (Boys & Girls) National Coaching Camp were held at this centre on regular basis for first time ever in women category.

Ms. Latika Bhandari has won Bronze medal in the 21st Asian Taekwondo(Senior) Championship held at Uzbekistan in May, 2014.

            Shri Abdul Wahid won Bronze medal in the Roman 1st World Cadet Championship held in Azarbyjan in July, 2014.

            It is pertinent that both the medals secured by the Taekwondo players are the first time ever and best performance in the discipline.

3).        Para (PCI) National Coaching Camps

Athletics Shri Devendra Zazria has won Gold medal in Javellin event (58.95 met) at XIX Asian Games held at Incheon, South Korea in Oct, 2014.

Shri Narendra has won Bronze medal in Discus Throw event at Asian Games 2014.

            Shri Sandeep Man won silver medal in 400 mt and Bronze medal in 4 X 400 mt. Relay at Asian Games 2014.

            Swimming – Shri Prashant Karmakar won 2 individual Bronze medals in the Swimming event at Asian Games 2014.

            Power LiftingMs Shakur, Women Powerlifter has won Bronze medal during the CWG Games held at Glasglow in July, 2014.

            Shri Basha won Bronze medal at XIX Asian Games 2014.

            Badminton - Ms Parul Parmar, Para Badminton player from local Gandhinagar (Guj) has won Gold medal in single (Women) and Bronze medal in mixed doubles in the Para Asian Games 2014. She is training at SAI Regional Centre, Gandhinagar.

 

National Level

 

a).        Kabaddi Sub-Junior Kabaddi team won Gold medal in the XXVI Sub-Junior National Championship held at Patna from 5-9 Nov, 2014. Seven players from Western Region, Gandhinagar and 5 from Northern Region, Sonepet have formed the SAI team.

            Shri Jaiveer Sharma was the Coach of the team. 12 Kabaddi inmates represented Pro-Kabaddi league.

b).        Handball – SAI team Girls U-19 has won Silver medal in the Junior National Championship held at Indore, MP in May, 2014. Shri SM Dhumal, Handball Coach, was coach of the team.

            All the SAI inmates (12 boys & 12 girls) representing Gujarat State Handball team as won silver medal in Men category and Bronze medal in the Women category during the 10th National Beach Handball Championship held at Nargol (Valsad), Gujarat from 17-19 August, 2014. Both the teams qualified for the forthcoming National Games slated to be held at Trivanthapuram in Jan, 2015. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Govt. felicitated the medalist in August, 2014.

c).        Wrestling – First time ever Women Wrestlers from STC Gandhinagar as won Bronze medal in the Senior Women championship held at Gonda (UP) from 13-16 Nov, 2014 for 63  wt. category.

d).       Volleyball(Girls) – First time ever Volleyball Western Region girls (all consisting of Gujarat) have participated in the All India Inter SAI Volleyball Competition at Kollam,  Kerala and secured Bronze medal. It is pertinent to mentioned here that first time ever the residential hostel  has started in the women category in STC Gandhinagar in the discipline of Gymnastics, Handball, Wrestling and Volleyball  inducting all the girls from the local state Gujarat, as it was a long pending demand of the State Sports administrators.

e).        Similarly, the participation of the SAI inmates at National level in all the sports disciplines in Western Region, Gandhinagar has enhanced considerably during the session 2014-15 due to personal attention given for induction/weeding out process by following achievement and age criteria strictly.

The height hunt scheme implemented by SAI Kerala has been utilized in toto. As many as 6 boys in the age between 14-16 with minimum height of 196 cm has been inducted in STC Gandhinagar in the Volleyball discipline. Their education and other requirement are being taken care of.
