In order to make this Centre as a “Model Centre” and utilize its optimally,   SAI  Western Region has implementing &    monitoring the following Schemes of SAI & MYA & S in the States under its jurisdiction namely 1. Gujarat

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

 

    • To ensure successful conduct of National Coaching Camp for preparation of National Team s for various International competition including Olympic Games, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games
    • To ensure effective implementation and coordination of schemes of SAI & MYA&S programmes in state and UTs under the jurisdiction of Western Region.
    • To co-ordinate with the state Govt. for conduct of various District/State/National level competitions and Coaching Camps.
    •  To monitor the performance of coaches and trainees in order to nurture Sub Junior and Junior Sports Talent  systematically and  scientifically for Excellence at  National and International level from the Western Region.
    • Coordination with the State and National Sports Federations for development of Sports in the Region and ensure the maximum number of participation of SAI inmates from the State Sports Association in the respective  State under the jurisdiction.
    • Conducting of Selection Trials, Competitions for fresh selection / weeding out of SAI Inmates.
    • Providing complete Scientific Support to the Scheme Trainees for Achieving Excellence.
    •  To ensure maximum utilization of the facilities existing and also to ensure proper maintenance and operation of the facilities for organizing National level of competitions in various sports disciplines.
    • To conduct workshop/seminar for PET’s of the state Education /Tribal Department for upgradation of their knowledge and technical aspects through eminent SAI Coaches. 
    • To coordinate with the local authorities for maximum number of Pay and Play participation for adequate Revenue Generation for the Regional Centres.

Upgradation of facilities at Regional Centre, Gandhinagar including STC Gandhinagar:-
          

  • Roads, playfields, buildings are upgraded.
  • All Street lights  installed are made operational in the campus.
  • The play field having flood lit facilities but not operational since more than 10 years have been made operational and regular training is undertaken by State/SAI Schemes/National campers.
  • The buildings such as class rooms, quarters and toilets (non-operational) have been converted into stores for the last 15 years have been made operation by installing Gymnastics equipment, Boxing Ring, Weight Lifting Platform, Judo Mats and Multigym facilities thus, as many as five halls are utilized for training purpose.
  • The entrance of the centre has now been changed and made operational from the Highway adjacent to Mahatma Mandir i.e entrance from the front highway road.
  • Due to the change in total facelift and upgradation of all the facilities and play fields, buildings, various Education Institute, Govt. Institution, PSUs, Corporates and other Institutions are availing the facilities  and conducting various competitions, on payment of tariff as approved by SAI, H.O. Hence increasing revenue considerably.
  • All the State Sports Department activities like Khel Mahakumbh, COE scheme (newly launched by the State Govt.) SGFI selections and State level camps and Women State Camps has been provided the facilities at the centre..
  • All the State Sports Association are being provided access to conduct District/State/National level competitions at this centre, on payment basis, as per SAI norms.
